3 Things you must know about Menstrual Blood Facials!

There's no direct delicate way to say but, skin care and anti-ageing products industry is changing at the speed of light! Social media has direct influence on our lives, but who could have thought of applying a menstrual blood directly over the face?! Yes you've heard that right! In a viral Tiktok trends some women were spotting applying their own menstrual blood over face & claiming to have anti-ageing benefits! Does that works?! Let's dig deep in!

1. Composition of Period Blood

Some skin care Aficionados believes that every single month uterus builds a nourishing endometrial lining to prepare for pregnancy! And as it nourishes the Embryo if pregnancy happens it would surely have cells & potent skin benefits. If we look closely Menstrual blood has, Blood of course, no no-brainer for that ๐Ÿ˜‰, Endometrial cells, Cervical Mucus, Vaginal Cervical epithelial cells, Pubes, Perspiration, Microbes, Few stem cells. None of them has showed any skin care benefits in Studies!

2. Embryo & Pregnancy!

It started with logic that , endometrial lining & Menstrual blood has efficacy to nurture embryo! But, heres catch! Its not Menstrual blood that nourishes embryo, its ongoing Blood supply from Uterine lining, growth hormones and mediators that gets released post implantation does the job! And fun fact! During 9 months of pregnancy we barely have a drop of menstrual blood! Embryo, the growing foetus doesnt grow in pool of blood! RIP logic!

3. The onset is all about Patriarchy!

Few years ago there was a momentary ripple of repulsion of, Semen being applied and it's hilarious for skin! Pure patriarchal BS! So if dicks can make it into mainstream beauty, why should period blood be any different? Well, besides although menstrual blood is sterile from the womb it would be very difficult for women to extract them in sterile way! Sexually transmitted infections like Human Papilloma Virus, Herpes Simplex could transmit to your skin along with menstrual blood! You should be highly sceptical of this when someone across the internet advice of Vampire Facial!
